Super Bowl XLVII will go down in history, but not just because of the game.  No, if Twitter trends and Facebook feeds are any indication, a good portion of the competition, entertainment and drama were in the ads and in the power outage that spurred scores of one-liners - and at least one very smart and agile marketing move - on social media.

This morning when I logged on to Facebook, I was asked to take a survey.  I'm the curious sort and I don't mind voicing my opinion, so I clicked through to see what it was all about.  The contents of the survey are below.  Take a read through and see if you notice an underlying theme - one that has the potential to either scare or excite you business owners and marketers out there, depending on whether you're the glass half-empty or half-full type.  Then join me back down below for some wild speculation as to what it's all about....

The results of a 61 million person experiment conducted by UC San Diego in collaboration with Facebook have been released in the journal Nature today, and the findings may change the way we view the impact of activism through social media, often derisively called "slactivism."  The study's authors claim that about one-third of a million more people turned out on Election Day in 2010 due to a single Facebook message, a strong indicator that slactivism does indeed have an impact in the real world.

First Annual 5k to Kick Off Lyme Disease Awareness Month, Raise Awareness, Funds to Fight Disease

The 5k run and walk, timed to help kick off Connecticut’s Lyme Disease Awareness Month, is designed to raise awareness and funds to help fight Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.

Group's Project Could Lead to Significant Advances in Diagnosis, Treatment of Lyme Disease

New Haven, CT (Feb. 7, 2012) – Dr. Eva Sapi, professor of cellular and molecular biology and director of the Lyme Disease Research Group at the University of New Haven (UNH), has been awarded a $5,100 grant by Time for Lyme, Inc. to help complete the final steps in a project that could lead to significant improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease.
